Pulmonary
(pulmonic) Valve
This view looks down on the pulmonic valve, showing the three leaflets opening during diastole and closing during systole, preventing the backflow of blood from the lungs to the right side of the heart. Sometimes, removed or absent in complex congenital heart disease, it is the one cardiac valve which a person can live without.
