Valve
The three leaflet aortic valve sits centrally, at the top of the heart. The leaflets are thicker than those of the mitral or tricuspid valves and do not need chordae tinnea to prevent prolapse. They close immediately after systole, preventing blood from returning to the left ventricle from the aorta.
